Photo Policy

Photographs published on this web site are not in the public domain, but rather are copyrighted by the photographer. This policy explains how you may (and how you may not) legally use images from this web site.

  1. Unless otherwise noted, photographs on this site are Copyright © by the original photographer, as of the date of publication shown with the photo. Photos are not in the public domain unless specifically noted as such.
  2. You may view the photos on this web site free of charge, and may download photos that include yourself or a member of your immediate family for personal, non-commercial use free of charge.
  3. Use of scenic photos for your personal "computer wallpaper" and other non-commercial purposes is generally held to be within Fair Use Doctrine of U.S. copyright law and international treaties. Thus, you do not need specific permission for this type of use. You may not, however, share such photos with others or otherwise republish them without permission. If your friend wants a copy, please send them to this web site to download for themselves.
  4. In most cases, the photographs on this web site are at a lower resolution than the true originals which came from our cameras or scanners. We retain these high-resolution versions unpublished in order to protect our work against copyright theft, and to conserve space and bandwidth on our web server.
  5. Most photos on this site contain an embedded copyright notice. Removal of the embedded copyright notice is expressly forbidden.
  6. If you or a member of your immediate family appear in a photo on this site, and you would like a copy of the photo at higher resolution for your personal use, please contact the webmaster to request it; we are likely to say yes.
  7. We try very hard not to publish photos that make anyone look bad, except for ourselves or for situations in which something was obviously intended as publicly-shared humor (such as someone "mugging" for the camera). That being said, if you or an immediate family member are depicted on this site, and you object to this, please contact us. Although we are not legally required to remove photos taken in a public venue, in nearly all cases we will voluntarily respect your wishes if you make them known to us in a courteous way. We respond to courtesy with courtesy.
  8. You may link to our albums from your web site if you wish, without needing to ask for specific permission. However, we do not promise that the URLs will remain stable over time if you link to individual albums or pictures. We recommend you link to our main page, http://erevnite.4th.com/, and let people who follow the link use our navigation menus to find the images. Please respect our site by not linking HTML <img> tags so that one of our pictures appears to be part of your page.
  9. If you wish to republish a photo on this page, including publication in an SCA newsletter or other nonprofit venue, or if you wish to use the photo for any commercial purpose, then you must obtain specific written permission from the photographer prior to using the photo(s). We reserve the right to seek legal remedies, both civil and criminal, against those who steal photographs from this site.

We apologize if this sounds draconian. We want people to view and enjoy these photos, but we have had occasions in the past where a few individuals have behaved dishonorably, and it is therefore necessary that we explicitly state these policies. Thank you for your understanding.
